Taking your dogs on holiday with you can be alot of fun. I am currently away with three of my dogs.

I am lucky that my dogs are used to travelling in their crates in the ute and the crates are their home away from home. It is important that your dogs are secured in the vehicle- whether that is in crates, via the seat belt or alternative connections.

Plan where you will stop to toliet your dogs- older or younger dogsmay need extra stops. Check out where you can give your dogs a decent run or go exploring so they enjoy their holidays as well. Make sure you know where you are allowed to let your dog off.

I try and keep my dogs in a similar routine to home so get up a quick toliet and then breakfast and then holiday activities.

The packing before hand made me realise how much stuff I take for them.

What did I pack

1. Their food plus extra in case something happens

2. Dog treats

3. Water bowls

4. Water – so they are on the same water while away so reduce risk of stomach upsets.

5. Plenty of leads

6. Long lines so can run in strange places where need control

7. Poo bags lots as seem to go through alot

8. Toys

9. Bedding plus spare incase there is an accident or it gets wet due to rain

10. Cover for night – my dogs sleep better when the ute is covered- they know that when the cover is on its sleep time

11. Sun cover in case it gets hot so they have shade and stay cool

12. Warm coats for night and cool coats in case it gets too hot

13. Any medications your dogs need

14. Chew objects to keep dogs happily occupied when you are busy

15. Basic grooming tools including nail clippers

16. A coat for me as dogs need exercise and tolieting even if it rains.

17. Basic first aid kit

18. I also packed a mat, six weaves and targets so that I can give them some basic training as I will be busy with family stuff some of the time. By doing some brain work with my dogs they will be more relxed and happy to rest.
